About Us:

1.    What is Creative Wheaton?
We are a local group formed to supercharge Downtown Wheaton. We promote activities and businesses.  We cultivate Wheaton's unique identity, invite people to take part, support local artists, and advocate to increase commerce and foot traffic.

2.    Why Do We Need This Group?
Wheaton businesses do not have the resources to form a Business Improvement District to collaborate and program. Our new group is an alternative. Our funding and leadership will be from a broader group.

3.    Who started it?
Creative Wheaton was formed through a collaboration between activists from the local business, residential and non-profit communities,  Councilmember Natali Fani Gozalez, the Wheaton Urban District  Advisory Committee, the Ad Hoc Arts and Entertainment Committee, County Executive Marc Elrich and the County Council via a grant program.

4.    How will I benefit?
Creative Wheaton will benefit you through more street activity, more patrons for your business, more activities in Wheaton, more opportunities to meet neighbors and belong to a community. Safer streets.  A healthier neighborhood: a more delightful and engaging place to walk and  less reliance on cars.

5.    Who runs it?
A board of directors made up of local volunteers, with ex-officio members from the county government. A search for an Executive Director will be made.

6.    How is it related to existing groups such as the Wheaton & Kensington Chamber of Commerce and Wheaton Arts Parade? We will partner in advancing Downtown Wheaton with these and other important organizations. We avoid competing for funding.
